What happens when you mix international foods with UTHSCSA Physiology faculty, staff and students? You get a LOT of food and a LOT of fun!!! Our international summer luncheon brought us together to celebrate our diverse ethnic backgrounds. We had approximately 20 different countries that were “brought to the table”. Several dishes included: Australia – vegemite sandwiches, China – eight treasure rice pudding, Columbia – orange mousse, Czech Republic – bread dumplings with sauerkraut, France – quiche lorraine, Germany – potato salad, India – chana masala or spicy chickpeas, Ireland – soda bread, Mexico – flan, Turkey – baklava, Russia – pancakes with caviar, cabbage or meat, Mexico – tamales, Romania – cabbage casserole ... along with many, many others. |
