CAREER DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES OFFERED BY THE PROGRAM.
Integral components of trainee preparation for careers in science are knowledge, adequate preparation, and the acquisition of skills to facilitate a transition. Tthis program emphasizes the role of the program faculty and leadership in guiding the trainee towards excellence in science. Programmatic requirements in scientific presentation, writing, grantsmanship, and responsible conduct complement the acquisition of research knowledge and skills. In addition, our trainees are encouraged to take advantage of on-going institutional activities that add value to the training of early career scientists. This includes diverse workshops and conferences focused on grant writing, mentoring, CV preparation, and networking. These programs are continuously offered through the coordinated efforts of this training program, and the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and the Office of Career Development at UTHSCSA.
